A number of initiatives have been made to respond to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada. "

The Reconciliation Tree invites Indigenous and non-Indigenous people across the province to share their hopes for reconciliation through their website. You can share your hopes online and in person as the tree travels to different communities across Ontario.

Historica Canada has partnered with the Ministry of Indigenous Affairs to produce the "Heritage Minutes" series which includes videos acquainting the public on treaties and residential schools.

"We Matter" is an Indigenous youth-led and nationally registered non-profit organization committed to Indigenous youth support, hope and life promotion. The founding project is the "We Matter Campaign" – a national multi-media campaign in which Indigenous role models and allies from across Canada submit a short video, written and artistic messages sharing their own experiences of overcoming hardships, and communicating with Indigenous youth that no matter how hopeless life can feel, there is always a way forward.

The organization now supports the Ontario Support Network (OSN), Hope Council, and created the "We Matter Toolkits" for youth, teachers and support workers.
